High quality early C20th gilded brass mounted corinthian column adjustable height telescopic standard lamp of bold scale and design.
The patinated black reeded architectural column topped with a well-detailed cast gilded brass corinthian capital . The adjustable height telescopic light fitting having a highly detailed classical leaf-cast body of ‘oil vessel’ type design supporting the bulb-holder .
Raised on a stepped architectural plinth base, the four sides with laurel wreath mounts, cast ovolo ‘egg and dart’ detail and the whole supported on exaggerated cast lion’s
paw feet with well-cast detailing. The underside having a cast-iron weight to provide stability.
A impressive classical design standard lamp of good large scale and proportions. Minor wear and surface pitting to the gilded brass surface commensurate with age and use .
Has been re-wired and tested , using traditional style cotton-covered 3-core flex . Ready to use .
