Description

Larger scale late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood marble inset top 2-tier ‘fish-bowl’ or jardiniere stand .
Heavily carved and pierced fruiting vine or prunus detail friezes below a lobe-shaped carved border top with carved edges , inset with a rouge marble panel. The 4 shaped legs carved with mask motifs and onto carved claw zoomorphic feet, having a plain panelled lower tier.
The heavy grade of ‘huali’ hardwood having achieved a rich , dark colour and patina. No losses or damage to the carving. The rouge marble top having some historic cracks , though perfectly flat and stable .
