Description

High quality early C19th mahogany serpentine-fronted table with three-quarter gallery surround top.
Fitted with 2 ‘cock-beaded’ frieze drawers having original cast-brass knob pulls and brass ‘Bramah’ patent locks and escutcheons (no key) .
Raised on shapely carved open uprights with a central patera , having a concave-front platform below with carved beaded mouldings , onto compressed turned bun feet beneath .
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina. The build quality , design and choice of timber alluding to a probable attribution to the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster .
A highly versatile table of practical scale and proportions for use perhaps as a dressing or writing table , a console or hall table .
