Early C20th British Royal Naval officer’s ceremonial dress bi-corn hat, gold braided epaulettes and sword belt by Gieves, London.
In its original ‘dish-dash’ decorated tole-ware black jappaned carrying case with velvet plush-lined fitted interior. The pair of gold braided epaulettes with silver wire-work anchor motifs . The patent black leather belt or sword-sling with gilt thread and gilded anchor buckle and fittings .
The bi-corn hat with silk lining and corresponding gold braid decoration. All bears the manufacturer’s name and Royal Warrant of “Gieves Ltd , 21, Old Bond St., London, By Special Appointment to His Majesty”the King “.
The tole-ware box has a locking hasp and carrying handle , bears the name of the officer ‘H.R.B Janvrin R.N ‘and has an embossed shield name-plate for “Gieves Limited “. The box exterior with wear and marks commensurate with age and use .
