C19th gilt bronze ‘Grand Tour’ souvenir desk ornament or ‘presse-papiers ’ of the “Medici Lion” on an onyx marble base.
Well-cast gilded bronze reduction of the iconic ancient lion , known as the “Medici Lion”. The lion together with its companion pair, now housed in the Loggia dei Lanzi , Florence , Italy .
Mounted on a figured onyx marble plinth base on a gilded brass slip with green felt baize beneath.
Smart desk ornament for use as a paper-weight.
