Early C19th small-scale child’s size C19th George IV period carved mahogany library armchair.
Unusual carved mahogany bergere-type ‘slipper-back’ library armchair of rare scale .
Raised on carved and turned forelegs fitted with brass socket castors, having carved rosettes to the corner blocks of the frame . The rear splayed sabre-type supports also fitted brass castors. The moulded front seat-rail having carved lateral corbels above to retain the loose squab seat cushion.
Shapely outswept carved arms , open-sided frame having a raked angle back with carved scroll details to the top bar of the frame .
In good original condition with a rich colour and patina . Minor historic repair to one arm joint. Old fabric upholstery which would benefit from recovering and refurbishing.
