C18th George III Chippendale period mahogany armchair of good scale and proportions.
Deep and broad , dipped �saddle�-seated mahogany armchair raised on section �Marlborough� fore-legs joined with an �H� stretcher . Outswept arms with scroll terminals , and a wide carved open and interlaced splat back with a serpentine outline top rail .
Heavy and dense grade of mahogany which has gained a deep , rich colour and patina . In original condition with no breaks or damage . The seat having been stripped of the top covering to reveal the canvas lining beneath, ready for re-upholstery. In fresh-to-market , country-house condition.
Ideal desk or reading armchair .
