Late C19th carved hardwood Fijian ceremonial war club or Kiakavo.
Carved and ‘cross-hatch’ chequer-carved head and handle grip , this type of club were typically a dance club used in ceremonial circumstances and rarely used for fighting due to their lack of a cutting edge .
The head of the club of traditional style with a double-sided ‘axe-head’ design.
In excellent original condition with only minor chips , having a rich colour and patina.
