Description

Early C19th Regency period gilt-wood framed convex mirror.
Deep profile carved gilt-wood cavetto frame , the outer reeded edge with crossed-ribbon decoration at the quarters , the inside of the rim with multiple applied spheres , the inner rim with decorative carved ‘lamb’s tongue’ detail , the convex mirror plate surrounded by a reeded and ebonised slip .
The original mercury-silvered convex mirror plate with an atmospheric aged sparkling finish , the verso with original back-boards.
In excellent original condition, the gilding retains a bright surface with only minor areas of sympathetic restoration.
