Pair of C19th French Empire-style bronze tazzas . Fine pair of patinated bronze and ormolu bronze shallow bowl tazzas on 'marmo giallo'/siena marble bases . Crisply-cast pair of classical bronze tazzas with cast-ormolu wrythen handles , raised on ormolu-mounted siena marble bases. The shallow gadrooned bodies with bead edges, fluted stems with stylised leaf detail and 'lambs-tongue' cast detail. In excellent condition and stunning combination of materials.(Minor chip to marble base shown).

Pair of C19th French pressed brass pricket candlesticks. Decorative tall pair of tri-form pricket candlesticks of C17th design . Each side of triangular base with different pressed decoration . The wide circular drip-pans above a stylised Doric-capped leaf-embossed tapering body . Standing upon claw feet to the corners.

Have a high-lighted polished two-tone finish which reflects the light well and gives an attractive atmospheric appeal.

No damage or holes , the pricket spikes of varied height , though bodies are equal.
Minor dents to top edge of 'drip-pans'.
As these are pressed brass they are light in weight , though have good stability.

Pair of C19th French walnut and burr-walnut bedside chests-of-drawers with ebonised detail . Useful pair of 4-drawer chests with matching burr-walnut tops , drawer-fronts and plinth fronts , with figured walnut sides and bodies. Ebonised knobs , drawer edges, mouldings and corners ,adding a striking contrast to the rich walnut.
Some variances in colour from tops to drawer-fronts due to some natural sun-light exposure. The veneer of the tops in a particularly high-quality grade of burr walnut veneer.

In excellent ready-to-use condition , having been cleaned , polished and waxed in our workshops.

*NB. This pair of chests are a true pair of bedside chests and are shown as they were made ,and have not been adapted or converted from something larger or altered in any way.

Pair of C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze vases.
Pair of C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze vases. Well-cast copies of the 'Townley' vase, which is now housed in the British Museum. The 'Townley' vase is a large Roman marble vase of the 2nd Century BC, discovered in 1773 by the Scottish antiquarian and dealer, Gavin Hamilton whilst excavating a Roman villa near Lazio, Italy. The name comes from the English collector Charles Townley, who purchased the vase from Hamilton in 1774 for 250. The British Museum purchased it after his death in 1805. The ovoid vase has volute handles in the style of a pottery Krater or wine vessel. It is carved in bas-relief with a Bacchanalian procession, with vine-leaf decoration and birds-head handles. Good scale pair of vases , with some minor rubbing to the patination . Fitted with detachable liners. H (overall) 12" x W 6". Italy c. 1880

Pair of C19th Italian carved alabaster 'Grand Tour' souvenir "Medici" lions. Well-carved models of "The Medici Lions" standing on detachable stepped plinths beneath glass domes onto ebonised wooden bases with crimson velvet lining. These famous lions with their paws resting on a sphere, now guard the steps to the 'Loggia dei Lanzi' in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence , Italy. The pair were relocated to Florence in 1787 from the Villa Medici in Rome ,the original single ancient marble lion sculpture being from 2nd century BC having been restored in 1598 . This is now paired with the companion "Leone" carved by Flaminio Vacca between 1594 and 1598. Both of these alabaster lions in mint condition , with no damage or repairs. Great carved detail to mane and body , with rib detail to flanks, standing on naturalistic bases. Glass domes perfect . H (domes)11" x W (domes on base )14". Lions H.8" x W.9 "x D.4 ". Italy c 1880.

Pair of C19th Italian carved gilt-wood candlesticks. In the style of C17th Venetian candlesticks of the baroque manner. Scroll feet triform bases with cartouches and punched or 'pounced' ground ;carved stems with leaf decoration ; lobed circular 'drip-pan' tops and turned candle knozzles.

Period-style distressed gilding showing decorative 'bleeding' onto the red gesso ground base.

Highly decorative candlesticks of practical scale.

Pair of C19th Italian carved serpentine marble 'Grand Tour' souvenir lions. Well-executed pair of lions depicting the Antonio Canova (1757-1822) originals sculpted from marble In 1792 for the monumental tomb of Pope Clement XIII in St.Peter's Basilica in Rome (see photo below). The sleeping lion is symbolic of the Popes moderation, whilst the vigilant lion represents his energetic work. The green serpentine marble has a rich colour and good figuring (being named 'serpentine' in its resemblance to snake- skin). Good condition with no damage or repairs . L 7" x H 4" x D 3". Pair of C19th Japanese porcelain dishes. Decorated with enamels in the C18th Chinese 'famille rose' palette. Figural scene to centre with pavillion and trees. Perfect condition and finely painted shallow-depth dishes with scalloped edges ,and borders decorated with vignettes of peonies, Phoenix birds and floral designs. Painted marks to reverse together with 'kiln spur' impressions, foot-rim and with blue and white decoration to rear edge. Dia.. 18" . Japan c 1875.

Pair of C19th stools or 'tabourets' , in the Louis XIV C17th period-style with carved walnut 'os de mouton' frames . The shaped walnut frames with a central stretcher and leaf carved detail to the forelegs. The scroll form legs with shaped 'peg' feet .

Upholstered in old patterned chintz fabric with decorative studs and fringe detail , the bases with hessian covers .

The frames with minor loose joints but no breaks or damages . Minor marks and scratches to the surface polish . Good grade of richly patinated walnut.

Excellent pair of decorative period-style stools .

Pair of C19th mahogany pier or side tables in the style of Robert Adam . Pair of C18th style Adam revival tables with neo-classical carved decoration . Oblong side or pier tables with fluted friezes , 'sun-flower' oval paterae , carved 'blind-fret' corner brackets and trailing husk carving to the legs. Faithful copies of an important pair of C18th Robert Adam (1728-1792) design tables influenced by his interpretations of the architectural elements of Ancient Rome . Solid Cuban mahogany tops, moulded tapering square-section legs, with carved detail to ends. Good colour and condition with some marks and stains to tops consistent with age and aging .A useful pair of neo-classical style tables of C18th design. Modelled after vases from antiquity , probably produced in Italy to cater for the fashionable demand during this period ,for classical objects from the ancient Empires . Fired terracotta bodies with high polish finish ,resonant of 'Rosso Antico' marble. No damage or restoration.

Pair of C19th terracotta lions lying in repose. Nicely weathered pair of Landseer-type lions lying full length on chamfered edge bases. Have some old repairs and minor chips but of good size and nice pale colour. Though weathered would work equally well indoors as out . Moulded-edge tops with rounded corner uprights, standing on plinth bases. Each with four drawers all fitted original turned mahogany knob pulls, with the base drawers in each with 'double' simulated fronts to provide a deep drawer. Modelled as herons or cranes with coronets/crowns around their necks and their claw-feet perched upon rocky/shell encrusted naturalistic patinated bronze bases. Lacquered gilt-bronze bodies with cut-glass beads and prism lustres hung from foliate sconces .The leaf-cast candle-holders 'held' by the beaks of the birds .Weighted cast-iron insert bases. After a model widely- produced by Thomas Abbott of Birmingham, sometimes stamped in cast weight to base , though this pair unmarked. All complete , good colour. H 16" Base dia. 8".England c. 1835

Recent over-stuffed upholstered seats with an Indian-inspired fabric featuring a tigers, monkeys elephants and attendants.

Sound frames with no breaks , with evidence of later strengthening on underside.
Heavy quality timber of good original colour with some minor areas of water-staining.

Pair of early C19th George III period mahogany hall-chairs. Elegant pair of simply-designed chairs constructed in heavy Cuban mahogany. Standing on turned legs with solid seats, the classical shaped backs with vacant moulded ovals for armorial decoration, with shaped scrolls above a stepped lower back. No crucial breaks to backs , though one chair has faded in sun-light and has an old repair to back panel. The reverse of backs carved with 'finger-grip' notchs for moving. Well-carved pair of hall or foot-mans' chairs with scrolling ancanthus-leaf detail backs ,shaped cresting rail and open central cartouche for an armorial device . The shaped seats above reeded front legs onto peg feet terminals. The rear of backs with finger-grip carving for ease of movement.

Excellent colour with original polish and patina .Top quality grade of timber. Minor historic repairs to rear legs and some minor stains to the solid mahogany seats.
