Pair of early C20th "Black Forest" carved miniature bears. Charming pair of carved linden wood (lime) bears , one seated on its haunches ,the other rolled on its back, each supporting an original brass bowl . Well -carved and modelled with naturalistically painted mouths and teeth , fitted with glass-bead eyes (one missing). Minor chip to one foot. Probably conceived as ash-trays , and made and sold as tourist souvenirs from Switzerland .

Pair of early C20th Chinese 'sancai'-glazed terracotta Buddhistic temple dogs. Highly decorative pair of Kylins or 'Dogs of Fo' temple guardian lions. Traditional 'Egg and spinach' sancai glaze lion-dogs wearing collars, sat upon decorated and draped plinth bases , the male with his paw upon a ball ,the female with her paw upon a pup. In Feng Shui, the lions are a manifestation of 'Yin' and 'Yang ', the ball under the male paw representing the circle of life. The male providing protection for the structure of the building , whilst the female protects the occupants of the Temple. Well-modelled copies of early Chinese ornamental mythical Temple guardian lion-dogs with fierce expressions. Good scale with subdued colours, some minor losses to the glaze. No breaks or repairs, minor chips to base.

Pair of early C20th Chinese turquoise-glazed 'Dogs of Fo'. Strikingly-coloured decorative pair of Buddhistic temple guardian lion-dogs in excellent condition . Male and female representations with contrasting stances and decoration. Raised on 'draped' plinth bases , the male dog with traditional ball symbol beneath his paw, whilst the female has a cub .No chips, repairs or damage. Minor colour loss around bases where glaze has 'run' in firing.

Pair of early C20th French gilt-wood boudoir/salon armchairs . Pair of Louis XVI style open-arm,oval cameo-back , cabriole-leg armchairs . Foliate and ribbon-tied carved detail to the frames , fitted castors to front legs. Sound strong frames, old neutral 'shot-silk' covering with piped edges, which has some marks and stains and may benefit from re-upholstering.

Some rubbing to gilt , but good opulent 'shabby chic' look.

Useful decorative pair of bedroom or occasional chairs.

Pair of early C20th carved coromandel elephants . Smart pair of walking elephants carved in solid coromandel , displaying a striking grain. Bone tusks, toe-nails and eyes.The 'squared' carving of the ears and use of coromandel and general 'feel' ,suggest a strong Art Deco influence and the pair would complement such a scheme. An opposing pair with contrasting gait, opposing trunks and tails. Nice size and in excellent condition. H 10" x W 10" x D 6". India c. 1920

Pair of early C20th Italian carved gilt-wood 3 branch scroll-arm wall-lights . In C18th period style , good-scale pair of gilt-wood and gesso wall-lights. Triple lamp-holders with carved foliate leaf-wrapped and rosette decoration. Candle-holder type nozzles and circular back-plates with carved edges. The gilding has gained a nice mellow patina ,with the red gesso ground 'bleeding' through in areas to imitate period style and aging. Can be re-wired to client's specification.

The tooled sage green leather tops with both 'blind' and gilt tooling of the highest quality and definition .

Pair of early C20th Northern Italian inlaid walnut beside cupboards in the late C18th style of the Lombardy region. Copies of an important pair of neoclassically-inlaid marquetry 'commodini' in the manner of the celebrated C18th Italian Milanese cabinet-maker Giuseppe Maggiolini . Inlaid and banded with kingwood , tulip-wood and various fruit-woods , raised on short tapering legs, each fitted with a single frieze drawer and cupboard. Tops and door fronts inlaid and banded with similar marquetry design within cross-banded borders, whilst the sides inlaid with vignettes of crossed torches. Excellent condition and colour, with no repairs or damage . A true pair with opposing opening doors. Quality gilt-brass fittings and key.

Pair of large C19th Japanese red lacquer decorated carved wooden figures. Striking and decorative large-scale pair of figures , depicting a male Oni or demon figure ,together with a female figure ,probably Kannon ,Buddhist Goddess of Mercy , carrying a basket. The carved wooden bodies decorated in deep scarlet lacquer with parcel-gilt highlights .

Excellent carved detail to both figures , both shown wearing matching flowing traditional robes with key-pattern decoration to the edges and gilt-heightened flower and cloud design .

Wear to gilt and surface commensurate with age and use , minor wear to edges of robes .

Both of free-standing form ,and raised on well-carved realistically modelled feet.

Pair of late C18th/early C19th Japanese Imari porcelain vases and covers
Pair of late C18th /early C19th Japanese Imari porcelain vases and covers. Good pair of highly decorative Japanese vases with domed lid covers and gilded Shishi/Lion-dog surmount finials. The typical Imari pattern palette of underglaze strong 'inky' cobalt blue and iron-red enamels with gilt highlights. The bodies with all-around design featuring cockerels, mythical Phoenix birds ,bamboo and floral motifs consisting of peonies and chrysanthemums.
Initially imported during the late C17th and early C18th by the Dutch East India Company in response to the demand from Europe for these wares, inspired and influenced by the interior designs of the likes of Daniel Marot and his contemporaries.
Impressive pair of vases to bring the exoticism and allure of the Orient to a traditional period or contemporary interior . Esteemed and valuable imports of the period , this type of porcelain can be found in the fine houses and palaces of Europe displayed on cabinets and fire-surrounds, often used within empty fire-places for decoration during the summer months.
In excellent original condition, with only one small chip to underside of each vase cover.
One surmount finial has evidence of old re-attachment.
