Early C19th late George III / early Regency period gilt-wood and gesso triple-plate 'landscape' overmantel mirror. Elegantly-designed mirror with fine classical carved and gesso decoration with architectural Doric-capped fluted column support uprights. The 'pounced' ground frieze with ribbon bows and flower-garland swags , oval sun-flower paterae and featuring a large central oval 'cameo' plaque with amorini/ putti at play.
The original plates with shallow hand-bevelling , divided by finely carved beaded and 'split-pearl' moulding. The break-front ended cornice with laurel-leaf wrapped decoration . Standing on gilded ball-feet.

Original gilding which has achieved a subtle warm patina . The backboards having been replaced due to age deterioration.

In overall excellent condition , minor chips and wear commensurate with age.

Early C19th Regency period gilt-wood 3-plate over-mantel mirror. Good compact-scale classically-decorated mirror in exceptional original condition . Central circular hand-bevelled plate with garlanded surround and 'sun ray' borders, flanked by rectangular bevelled mirror plates. Flat fluted pilaster uprights with Corinthinian capital tops , classical flower-design motifs dividing the 3-panel frieze decorated with classical figures around a central Temple . The stepped cornice with applied sphere decoration ,'lambs-tongue' carving beneath a 'rope-twist ' and bead moulding and a flat top .
Good original gilded finish of 'soft',aged patina , with some sympathetic wear showing traces of pink/red ground. Clean ,silvered plates to the mirrors.
Original back ,with re-papered finish .
A good classically-inspired mirror which would bring style and light to a period room setting.

Early C20th Adam-style carved gilt-wood and gesso framed mirror of neo-classical design .

Impressive C18th style Robert Adam design wall mirror of good large scale with an elaborate neo-classical style frame. The top featuring central fluted-body vase with foliate and flower-head scrolling detail. The sides with trailing carved leaf and flower-head details and the base with conforming detailed frieze . The oblong mirror plate framed with a double border of carved detail .

The Scottish-born architect and designer Robert Adam (1728-1792) , was a leading exponent of neo-classical design during the late C18th , and his schemes and designs can be seen gracing many of England's greatest county-houses, including Syon Park , Kedleston , Croome Court and Harewood House.

In excellent condition with no losses or damage . The gilt with an aged patina .
The mirror plate with clear , silvered surface .

Stylish Chinese carved huali /rosewood framed mirror with interesting contrasting carved boxwood block vignettes featuring grass-hopper or cricket and foliage motifs. The open-fret frame centre with a quatrefoil shaped bevelled plate mirror . The top fitted with a decorative lacquered brass fretted 'hanging' bracket . The boarded back fitted with eyelets to enable concealed hanging .

Throughout Chinese history and culture , crickets have symbolised wisdom and prosperity ,and the singing of crickets revered . Crickets lay hundreds of eggs and their fertility coincides with the traditional Chinese belief that having many children is a symbol of vitality , happiness and abundance.

Elegant oval-framed mirror with deep cavetto profile , reeded edge with applied gesso crossed-ribbon detail , an inner band of applied gilded spheres together with a reeded inner border.

Good original gilding with a gently-aged patina and finish . The gilding having atmospheric mild distressing or rubbing showing the pink/red gesso grounding.

Good original, clean bevelled-edge plate .
Minor historic repairs to ribbon details .

Could be hung in either horizontal or vertical aspect . Fittings can be adjusted to client's specification.

C19th Regency style circular gilt-wood mirror. Fitted with a flat bevel-edge mirror plate , with reeded ebonised slip/surround. The cavetto moulded edge frame fitted with gilded sphere decoration.

All complete and in good order , with some re-touching to the gilt balls and minor areas to edge of frame , but essentially original gilding.
Nice 'soft' gilded colour with some evidence of red gesso ground showing through.

Useful scale mirror , ready to hang.
