Well-executed copies of important early C18th walnut armchairs , upholstered in beautiful period-style floral 'snow-drop' design needlework/tapestry. 'Shepherds-crook' arms, shaped cabriole legs, with c-scrolls, shell-carved knees terminating in scroll carved feet. The top centre back with carved scallop-shell decoration. C19th Regency period mahogany 'bergere' library armchair. Elegant neo-classical 'Grecian' influenced library chair with cane-work bergere back and seat in perfect order. Based on a classical ancient Greek design 'Klismos' chair, popularised by the drawings of the artefacts and architecture of the ancient classical civilisations by the likes of Charles Heathcote-Tatham and the designs of Thomas Hope and Thomas King. A wonderful quality mahogany frame with swept open arms and carved motif detail and reeded channel carving, standing on turned legs. Rich colour timber with original polish and patina. Set of 6 mid C19th period mahogany dining chairs.
Set of 6 mid C19th period mahogany dining chairs. Superb quality set of chairs with unusual 'channeled' shaped top-rail with carved boss/ rosette decoration. Standing on carved and turned front legs, the stuff-over seats with original leatherette covering.

All original condition and a good mellow colour, no breaks or repairs. Stylish set of well-designed chairs of classical architectural influence ,which would work equally as well as side , hall or dining chairs.

Though unsigned or stamped , the chairs are almost certainly designed and manufactured by the prominent and prolific cabinet-makers 'William Smee & Sons' , Finsbury ,London. Many of their designs derived inspiration from antiquity and in a style known as "Modern Greek" .These chairs in particular draw stylistically from the style of the Ancient Greek "klismos" chair .The firm exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and similar designs for these chairs with the distinctive top-rails are shown in a series of the firms drawings held at the V & A Museum , London.

Set of 6 C18th George III period Cuban mahogany dining chairs. Good quality clean set of period dining chairs of uncomplicated classic Georgian design . Restrained reeded detail to tablet of top rail ,moulded decoration to 3-splat lumbar support backs and moulded bars. Generous, broad over-stuffed seats recently recovered in rose-pink self-patterned damask , original horse-hair upholstery with traditional brass-studded finish to tops of fore-legs, partially chamfered rear legs with gentle splay. Raised on plain tapering square section legs with H-stretchers beneath.
No breaks or repairs, good original rich patination .
A strong ,functional, ready-to-use set of subtley sophisticated design Georgian period dining chairs.

Set of 4 mid C18th style carved walnut dining or side chairs in the Chippendale manner.

Finely carved late C19th Chippendale-revival chairs faithfully copying important mid-Georgian period examples . Carved 'interlaced' and pierced ribbon splat backs with excellent attention to detail of the carving. The shaped top cresting rail with carved flower-head corners and leaf detail .Raised upon carved cabriole fore-legs with well-executed carved acanthus-leaf knees , terminating in scroll-form toes or "French feet" . The lower front seat rail of serpentine shape with carved moulded decoration.

The splat built in the traditional C18th chair-makers style with a two-piece 'shoe' joining to the frame of the chair. The rear splayed supports with a good raked angle.
Drop-in seats with aged red leatherette covering .

Historic minor repairs commensurate with age and use . Strong , sturdy frames .

Highly decorative side ,hall or dining chairs of broad period-style proportions .

Pair of late C19th Dutch walnut armchairs. Faithful copies of early C18th design walnut armchairs with ornate burr-walnut veneered back- splats . Shaped cabriole front legs with pad feet,'shepherds crook' arms, shaped drop-in seats with shaped cartouche to front rail. Overall bold, broad proportions ,elbow pad upholstery to arms. Excellent, strong condition with no breaks or repairs, good rich honey-coloured walnut frames. Old clean upholstery , but could benefit from re-covering.

Shaped swept arms with scroll supports, standing on reeded front legs. The 'wing' shaped top-rail back and severe line of the arms ,being an Eygptian-revival influenced design reminiscent of Thomas Hope's drawings of the period. Set of 6 mid-Victorian period mahogany dining chairs . Quality set of cabriole-leg ,'crown'-back dining chairs with 'drop-on' pegged upholstered seats. Well-carved scrolls to top of legs, shaped seats with moulded edges. The 'crown' shaped top-rails with carved details , the lumbar-support splat with carved scroll detail. Top-grade timber which has a nice faded patina to the top-rails and the original polished finish . One very old professional repair to rear leg of one chair , which does not compromise the strength or functionality. Clean ,usable upholstery.

Well-carved pair of hall or foot-mans' chairs with scrolling ancanthus-leaf detail backs ,shaped cresting rail and open central cartouche for an armorial device . The shaped seats above reeded front legs onto peg feet terminals. The rear of backs with finger-grip carving for ease of movement.

Excellent colour with original polish and patina .Top quality grade of timber. Minor historic repairs to rear legs and some minor stains to the solid mahogany seats.

Rare early C19th Regency period Anglo-Indian coramandel armchair. A finely-drawn example of a classic Regency design armchair constructed entirely from solid East Indian coromandel or Calamander . Elegant reeded frame, scroll arms, and sabre legs ,with double-bar lumbar support with a finely carved central classical floral motif .Shaped and reeded top rail, with original cane-work/rattan seat and of typical Colonially-made pegged construction. Strikingly-figured exotic timber.
Amin Jaffer "Furniture from British India and Ceylon" illustrates a solid Calamander sofa table from Ceylon p.367 no. 176.

Well-executed and faithful copy of a mid-Georgian period mahogany corner library/reading chair constructed from fine grade of quality timber .Standing on bold cabriole legs with 'claw-and-ball' feet, with twin carved broad back-splats with pierced fret-work and central lambrequin/tassel detail. Drop-in seat with old serviceable brocade upholstery. 'Gun-barrel' turned uprights with scroll terminals to the shaped arms. Excellent condition and colour.
