Classically-designed urn turned in grey/brown stone with contrasting chased-gilt embellishments, gilt feet and knop to lid. Smart quality centre-piece, with no chips or breaks.

Raised upon a carved 4 legged shaped-support base ,carved with simulated bamboo decoration and decorative brackets. Originally hinged ,folding base and detachable top which is now fixed (could be re-instated). Good rich colour, constructed from quality hardwood 'hongmu' timber .

The green marble banded socles supporting yellow/siena marble bowls , the bases with an applied moulded panel of siena marble to the green marble face. Late C19th Italian carved alabaster figure "The Bather".

Beautifully carved figure of "Nymphe descendant au Bain" after the 1757 marble original by Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791). Capturing Venus or Aphrodite imagery , the sculpture depicts an innocent young woman extending her leg shyly towards the water.

This highly regarded sculpture by the famous French artist, is recognised as capturing the sensual moment when a young girl becomes a woman. This well-executed version in pure white alabaster is signed on the rear edge "D. Cicchelli". The sculpture stands upon a contrasting turned socle base of black and white striated alabaster. Has a minor hair-line 'crack' to neck which could be a joint to the stone when carved.

Useful collapsible 'hongmu' tray table on folding hinged X-frame base . Good mellow faded colour oval tray-top with moulded edge . The folding base of rich patina with scrolled peg feet on shaped carved cabriole-type leg supports . The top of the 'knee' carved with well-defined grape-vine detail , the top of the terminal carved with a vine-leaf.

Excellent clean , ready-to-use condition.

Late C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze reduction, after the antique ,of "The Dying Gaul". Good bronze casting of the iconic marble statue of the defeated and wounded Gaul , the marble Roman version now exhibited in The Capitoline Museum , Rome .

The Hellenistic bronze original executed in 3rd century BC , the lost Roman marble copy was rediscovered in the C17th whilst excavations were made at the Villa Ludovisi in Rome .

Depicted wearing his neck torc, and lying upon his discarded martial equipment , shield and sword .

Dark patination of consistent colour.

Examples grace the fine museum and Country House collections of the world , such as Blenheim Palace and Syon Park.

Heavily brass-mounted writing or valuables chest with fitted and compartmentalised interior with lift-out centre section to inner well. The pierced brass strap-work corners of Portuguese colonial design , the interior of the lid with large decorative brass hinges and dome-studded exterior. Decorative studded decoration with pierced sheet brass panel designs. The ends fitted with carrying handles . Lacks key.
Chests of this type were produced throughout the C18th and C19th centuries by the countries of the Indian Ocean , taking their design influences from both Africa and the colonising and trading countries of Holland and Portugal . Often generically called 'Zanzibar' or 'Arab' chests.

Bears the signature of Ferdinand Bardedienne Foundry of Paris , and also the seal mark of Achille Collas whose invention of the mechanical pantograph reduction device led to the accurate production of this type of bronze model . C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir gilded bronze sculpture after the antique, of Dionysus, known as "Narcissus". Well-cast gilded patination bronze of this iconic statue, produced in Naples probably by 'Chiurazzi' foundry. Depicted in 'contrapposto' pose, a wine-skin slung over his shoulder, entirely naked except for his sandals and the grapes in his hair. The Greek god Dionysus, Bacchus to the Romans , is the God of wine, the grape harvest, ritual madness, religious ecstasy and theatre.

The discovery of the original ,excavated at Pompeii in 1862 , caused a sensation and the image was much sought after by European collectors and 'Grand Tourists' alike . The antique original now exhibited in Museo Nazionale, Naples, Italy.

Good 'softly' gilded patina with minor high-points and rubbing . Minor casting fault / crack to rear of base.

C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze sculpture , after the antique , "Jennings' Dog". Modelled after the ancient Hellenistic original , this copy of the Roman C2nd AD version , is named after its first 'modern' owner Henry Constantine Jennings.
The metre-high marble is now on exhibition in The British Museum .Thought to represent the legendary Molossian guard dog or hound , of the Grecian statesman , Alcibiades, it was acquired by Jennings in Rome c.1756. It subsequently was sold in 1778 by Jennings to Hon .Charles Duncombe , in order to settle his gambling debts. Acquired for the nation from Duncombe Hall in 2001.

A similar pair of marble mastiffs are in the Belvedere Court , Vatican Museums , Rome , Italy.

Well-cast reduction model of good rich patination and consistent colour .

Mid C19th carved mahogany Chippendale-style ladder-back child's armchair . Well-executed copy of an C18th Chippendale design armchair of scaled-down child-size proportions.

The serpentine shaped top-rail with carved leaf detail and conforming carved decoration to the serpentine 'ladder-back' bars below. The arms with scrolled terminals with carved acanthus-leaf detail carving. The seat-frame with simple period-style moulded edge .

Raised on square-section fore-legs and splayed rear supports , all joined with an 'H' stretcher . Drop-in upholstered seat in need of re-upholstery , can be recovered in fabric of clients choice .

Good dense timber which has achieved an authentic period-style patina.

Excellent condition with no breaks or repairs.

Smart pair of vivid 'blue-de-roi' enamel dished tazzas with gilded fleur-de-lys decoration mounted upon cast gilt ormolu bronze tripod bases. The finely-cast bases with hoof feet and chased decoration . Both bear engraved reference numbers from the unknown maker.

Quality pair of miniature 'objets de virtu' , produced in an arresting colour combination.

A minor nick to enamel on edge of one tazza , barely visible to the naked eye.

Interesting and practical early C20th brass-mounted leather trunk or chest.
Interesting and practical brass-bound leather trunk or chest.

Useful decorative leather trunk with hinged lid and padded interior . Reinforced bridle-stitched leather corners and patinated brass strapping and hasp locks . The sides fitted with stitched and padded leather loop strap handles . The top mounted with large dome-headed brass studs .

Decorated to sides and top with Chinese characters and calligraphy (apparently translating as "Vetinary") . The front decorated with an applied cut-leather stylised flower-head applique, the keyhole cover-plates of a matching design .

Could be used for a multiple of purposes . The interior would hold approximately 20 bottles of wine vertically or a large quantity of magazines, newspapers ,toys ,DVDs , CDs ,slippers ,boots etc etc etc .

The leather having obtained a rich waxed patina with only minor scuffs and water stains . The hinge of the lid in excellent order .
