Description

Early C19th George IV period mahogany 2-door side-cabinet bookcase.
Smart figured-mahogany bookcase or side cabinet with turned and ‘rope-twist’ column uprights , turned reel beaded panel reserves and brass line-inlay to the frieze . Fine reeded moulding detail to front and side returns. Raised on turned tapering feet with shaped supports, the double doors enclosing 2 reeded-edge fixed shelves .
The corners of the solid figured ‘book-matched’ mahogany doors with carved quadrant decoration , and centred with a decorative reeded brass closure strip . Fitted original brass bolts , brass lock with brass escutcheons and a working steel key .
The rectangular top with some historic marks and light scratches.
Superb high grade of mahogany which has achieved a rich colour and patina.
A highly practical , capacious and decorative cabinet or bookcase of elegant proportions in excellent original condition.
Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
