Interesting and decorative set of 7 mid C19th Chinese Export lacquer miniature trays for holding gambling chips .
Shallow rectangular lacquer trays with scrolling gilt foliate design decorated angled sloping sides each featuring a different design of playing card to the interiors . The black lacquer bodies decorated in red and gold .
The faces of the various suits of cards portrayed with amusing stylised faces and features.
Designed originally to hold gambling or gaming chips or tokens whilst playing cards , but would work well perhaps as purely decorative items or as trinket or cuff-link tidys.
In good original condition with very minor chips to the edges and rubbing to the interior lacquer surfaces commensurate with age , use and purpose.
