Description

Pair of early C19th Regency period gilt bronze bust studies of Sir Walter Scott and Lord Byron on marble bases .
Smart pair of bronze desktop or miniature library busts of the novelists and poets mounted on circular truncated Verde Tinos marble columns , the sides mounted brass rings . The green marble pedestal columns mounted with a circular band of cast ormolu onto shallow square carrara marble plinths . The studies mounted on integral turned socle supports, the reverses of concave profile in the classical sculptural manner.
The bronze studies of the legendary literary duo are depicted ‘all’antica’ wearing classical style robes ,their heads turned sinister and dexter respectively.
In excellent original condition with only minor rubbing to the gilded ormolu surfaces . The marble column base of the Scott study with a minor historic chip to the edge .
