Description

Highly decorative pair of early C20th composition giant clam ‘shells’ or “Tridacna Gigas” .
Well-executed pair of cast-stone or composition giant clam shells in imitation of protected natural history specimens as found in the South Pacific and Indian oceans. The outer surfaces with ribbed and textured details , the interiors with a well-simulated luminescence .
The bases cast with flat bottoms providing stability and enabling the pair to stand straight , thus forming a large pair of tazza-type bowls .
Smart and stylish decorative pair of ‘shells’ to add exoticism and natural world wonder and curiosity to an interior scheme.
In excellent original condition, with a convincing natural colour and patina. Minor historic chips to edges .
