Early C19th Regency period carved mahogany fold-over card or gaming table .
Raised on an exuberantly carved central pedestal column onto a carved edge circular base raised on quadruple shaped sabre legs with leaf-carved detail , fitted with original brass ‘box-toe’ castors .
The fold-over swivel top of bow-front shaped breakfront outline with a rectangular central tablet of carved acanthus leaf detail , with blocks of similar carving to the corners . The frieze with reeded moulding detail panels and returns . The interior of the table lined in old green baize felt in the traditional manner .
In as found original ‘countryhouse’ fresh-to-market condition retaining it’s original patina , colour and ‘skin’ . The top with some faded areas and marks commensurate with age , use and purpose. The interior fitted with an old baize felt covering which would perhaps benefit from replacement.
An impressively carved decorative and elegant table of practical proportions which could be utilised in many settings.
