C18th George III period mahogany �low-boy� or side table .
Smart Georgian mahogany kneehole table or low-boy , fitted 3 drawers raised on square section supports with subtle moulded-edge detail and inside chamfered legs . The corners of the front fitted with Chippendale-style open fret-work spandrels or brackets, the drawers fitted with rococo-style cast brass handles . The top with a moulded profile edge and gently rounded corners , the sides with shaped aprons .
The rectangular top and drawer-fronts cross-banded in decorative satinwood inlay with a fine ebony line , which is possibly a later nineteenth century embellishment.
In excellent condition with a pleasing consistent mellow colour and patina. Minor marks and stains to the top commensurate with age, use and purpose, minor lateral shrinkage crack to one end .
A classic piece of restrained design Georgian mahogany furniture with both practical and decorative appeal.
