Description

Pair of early C19th gilded cast-iron door-stops or porters , modelled as opposing eagles .
Well-cast pair of ‘spread-eagle’ gilded iron doorstops mounted on integral semi-circular bases. The opposing pair shown perched on ‘rocky outcrop’ bases , with wings out-stretched and beaks open .
Retaining the original gilded finish and having achieved a good aged colour and patina .
The bases having original cast holes , suggesting the option in manufacture was to be able to be further mounted if required.
In excellent original condition with no damage or repairs.
No markings, but possibly by Coalbrookdale .
