Description

Early C19th late George III period mahogany extending dining table of unusual format .
Elegant late Georgian period Cuban mahogany dining table comprising of two d-ended section tables with extending box-actions capable of supporting the 3 additional leaves .
The tables raised on elegant finely-turned and reeded legs fitted with rare original stamped ‘patent’ brass castors and wheels (one old period replacement) . The 2 table ends polished on all edges with reeded mould corresponding to the reeded edges of the top . The pull-out box action on a mahogany frame .
Three original leaf sections, 2 being of identical width and a smaller additional leaf . All with corresponding reeded edges to the table ends .
Fitted with original brass forks and clips to secure the top and leaves when being extended to different lengths and format , The reverse of the larger leaves fitted with original inset brass strap strengtheners along the joins of the matching Cuban mahogany planks .
The full solid selected mahogany top of superb grade, quality and figuring . Has some variance of colour to the leaf sections from differing exposure to sunlight and usage .
The design of the wide over-hanging top , providing visual elegance as well as capacious seating practicality for diners .
Can be used in all lengths and formats and easily closed or stored when not in use as a dining table , the twin end-sections being able to be used separately as side or console type tables, or simply placed together forming a small breakfast or dining table.
In excellent original condition with a superb colour , patina and ‘surface . Minor historic marks , dents and repairs commensurate with age , use and purpose.
