Fine early C19th Regency period mahogany dining table in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster.
Fine quality mahogany extending dining table comprising a pair of D-ended tables and a central drop-leaf table , providing a highly practical and flexible format . The central drop-leaf section with a folding double gate-leg action the support the leaves when raised . The pair of D-end table each now fitted with twin pull-out lopers or slides to the underside of the frame to provide extra support and stability when the table is fully raised and extended .
The twin D-end tables each with a shallow frieze and fitted with a simple sophisticated square-section moulding to the lower edge .
Raised upon 14 finely-turned and gently-swollen , elegant legs and fitted with original brass castors which retain good traces of their original gilding . Supplied with original brass 'bayonet' style clips to hold the leaves together when opened .
Excellent original polished finish with a rich patina and colour .
The quality of the cabinet-making , the quality and grade of the chosen solid Cuban mahogany for this table , give a firm attribution to the esteemed firm of Gillows of Lancaster and London.
A well-proportioned table which would seat 10 to 12 diners when fully opened . Has the added versatility and attraction of being able to be separated into 3 sections to provide compact format when not in full use , allowing for the separate components to be utilised differently.
