Large scale late C19th Persian Qajar Dynasty 'tinned copper' table .
Impressive and highly-decorative Qajar pedestal base table with complex detailed engraved and embossed Islamic style decoration. The top with concentric bands of decoration with a central medallion , the inner of the table of shallow dished form , the outer edges interspersed with vignettes . The edge of the table with a shallow raised border , forming a shallow tray top .
Raised on a bulbous stem pedestal base with a circular foot , all with conforming decoration.
Wares of this type were traditionally produced in the city and district of Mashhad, Northern Persia , an area renowned for such skills . The copper body having been 'tinned' or 'silvered' using traditional techniques.
In excellent original condition , with minor 'bleeding' of the copper through the silver finish .
Would work equally as well as exotic practical decoration in an interior or exterior scheme , orangery or terrace.
