Description

Late C19th/early C20th walnut cabriole leg stool of early C18th design .
Boldly carved early Georgian-style walnut-framed stool of good , generous proportions . The carved walnut cabriole legs with shell-carved knees , leaf-carved ears and raised on powerful 'claw-and-ball' feet .
In excellent condition with a mellow ,aged honey-coloured patina and colour , almost indistinguishable in appearance from an early C18th original . The carved knees with period-style hand- carved chiselling to the under-frame .
Reupholstered and covered in our workshops using a sympathetic period-style figured damask fabric, with a 'piped' and rope-braid detail edge . Fitted with spaced gilt-brass decorative headed studs to the surround .
Would work equally well as a dressing stool , footstool or coffee table , to enhance a period style interior.
