Mid C19th walnut oval-topped wine table or candlestand, raised on a Solomonic or barley-twist column support by Charles Hindley, London.
Small-scale walnut table with an oval top supported by a tapering helical column, raised upon a concave-sided triangular base with compressed bun feet beneath. The top of mellow-coloured English figured walnut with some historic stains and marks .
The top fixed to the column by a circular turned collar . The underside of the collar stamped "C.Hindley & Sons , 134, Oxford St. London 42877" .
The London cabinet-making and furniture retail firm of Charles Hindley & Sons were active in the West End of London from 1817 to 1892. The firm supplied quality furniture appealing to both the burgeoning wealthy middle classes and aristocratic patrons .
In excellent original condition with a pleasing mellow colour, and honey hue patination.
