Description

Early C19th Regency period mahogany and rosewood cross-banded sofa table .
Raised on a turned centre pedestal base onto a concave-sided rectangular platform , the twin drop-leaf table fitted with 2 assymetrical mahogany-lined frieze drawers opened by finger grips under the bottom edge , with an integral central tablet . Supported on four reeded sabre legs with leaf-carved hips . The feet fitted with original cast-brass claw foot castors .
The top and drop-leaf sides with an inset broad border of rosewood cross-banding, the base with rosewood banded and inlaid details. The twin rule-jointed drop-leaves supported by double shaped and hinged folding flaps . The turned central column mahogany pillar with ebonised ring details.
The top with well-figured matched curl veneer . The table has a pleasing consistent pale faded patina having been exposed to direct sunlight.
Of completely free-standing form , the simulated drawer verso mirroring the fitted drawer front .
In genuine as found original 'country-house' unrestored condition .
