Late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood square centre table with inset marble top .
Chinese hardwood centre table of unusual design with a white marble inset top . The shaped hardwood 'hongmu' framed top with a carved edge.
Raised on 4 shaped rounded-section legs terminating in ball feet , with simulated bamboo-effect carving ,united by shaped stretchers with a central ball-type finial . The shaped friezes all carved with carved 'bamboo' edges and bamboo shoot motif carved details.
Bamboo in Chinese culture symbolic and representative of virtue reflecting souls and emotions, and viewed as a symbol of traditional Chinese values.
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patination. The white marble slab top in perfect condition with no cracks or chips.
Superior quality decorative Chinese table to add exoticism to an interior scheme. Practical scale and height , could be used as a lamp , drinks or plant table .
