Pair of late C19th Syrian inlaid octagonal tables with rising tops.
Smart decorative pair of Damascus octagonal low tables or tabourets, each with profuse bone , nacre-shell and fruitwood geometric inlay onto a walnut or fruitwood carcass . The octagonal tops each hinged and fitted with a lock and key enclosing a practical storage compartment.
In good original condition with minor losses to the inlay at base of the arcaded feet , probably from use on a damp floor. The tops of contrasting designs in perfect condition.
Exotic Middle Eastern design combined with practical scale to provide a highly decorative addition to an interior.
