C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir reduction, after the antique, of "The Warwick Vase".
Desk-top size bronze model of the iconic marble ancient marble vase excavated at Hadrian's villa near Tivoli in 1771 by the Scottish antiquarian Sir Gavin Hamilton , and named after it's one-time owner , the Earl of Warwick .
Well-cast and crisply detailed with a good consistent mellow patination. Raised on a circular socle base , the body cast with masks of Bacchic gods and with twin wrythen vine handles .
The ancient original now on exhibition at The Burrell Collection in Glasgow.
