Pair of early C19th Regency period carved statuary marble term figures in the manner of Thomas Hope , mounted upon rouge marble socles.
Smart pair of marble figures probably depicting the Egyptian goddess Isis . The well-carved head and shoulders female subject mounted on an integral tapering reeder corbel support . The white marble sculptures mounted upon turned rouge marble socle bases and supported by steel plates to the rear .
Thomas Hope (1769 -1831) was a art collector and designer whose influences from his extensive travels on the 'Grand Tour' and the sites and sights of Europe and ancient Empires , reflected in his designs and collection in the classical form .
Possibly elements from a marble chimney-piece and later mounted on the socle bases .
Elegant pair of classically-inspired ornaments for a mantelpiece or side cabinet .
