Description
Rare early C19th George IV period carved rosewood jardiniere stand or crocus table in the manner of the cabinet-maker Thomas King ( 1790-1839) .
Unusual circular-topped pedestal jardiniere stand with a solid rosewood column of almost organic form . The lidded top with a 'lappet' carved edge surround to the lidded aperture to house a plant or jardiniere.
The top of the column modelled as a lotus or crocus flower with carved bosses around the collar.
The spreading ribbed column onto a circular foot raised upon 4 carved scroll feet.
Excellent original colour and condition with a rich patina. The removable top with a 'thumb-hole' for ease of removal , the basin beneath with a drainage hole .
Some minor distortion the the underside probably caused by damp from inclusion of the potted plant .
Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
