Fascinating C19th Victorian period folk-art 'scratch-built' whimsical diorama of the Jacobean manor "Aston Hall",Birmingham.
Three-quarter aspect view diorama of the facade and front terrace of "Aston Hall" , Birmingham ,England . Built using wood , paper and various coloured foils and seaweed elements , to form the impressive winged facade and front planted terrace of the Grade1-listed Jacobean red-brick manor constucted in 1618 for Sir Thomas Holte . Now open as a Museum.
Featuring the balustraded and turreted manor with its distinctive central clock tower. The foliage composed of seaweed or lichens , the stained-glass windows with coloured foil backs . Contained in a scratch-built wooden frame/case lined with vivid cobalt blue paper. Each corner with a 'tree' behind . The terrace with a central garden urn detail , flanked by a pair of 'planted' vases.
In good original condition with minor losses and natural aging throughout.
