Description

Late C18th George III period mahogany demi-line ended dining table of highly adaptable format .
Smart pair of half-round tables together with an original removable and detachable extra leaf which allows the table to be utilised in several practical formats.
The pair of Demi-lune tables can be used separately as side tables , joined together to form a perfectly round dining or centre table , or used with the extra leaf insert to form a larger table which will comfortably accommodate 6 diners.
In totally original condition with all original brass forks and clips to secure it . The leaf fitted with original steel bayonet-type hinged fittings with corresponding clips beneath one demi-lune end. One table fitted with an additional leg on gate leg action to further support the leaf when in use. The leaf can either be removed completely or left folded down to rear of demi-lune section.
Boxwood-strung figured veneer friezes with shaped flame-veneered reserves to the top of leg stiles. Each raised on 4 elegant ring-turned tapering round-section legs terminating in an unusually-designed slim bulbous foot. The solid mahogany tops of the pair of tables and the leaf all with a conforming simple moulded edge.
Excellent original condition having been cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Good rich patina with some minor marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Minor colour difference between leaf and pair of d-ends through difference of use and light exposure.
