Description

Mid C19th Anglo-Indian Ceylanese carved ebony foot-stool of scroll-ended form . Well-carved solid ebony stool with reeded frame standing on 'lions-paw' feet . The scroll ends with turned and wrythen-twist carved bars . The whole of finely-figured dense ebony .
Constructed with traditional visible pegs , the frame with removable drop-in seat pad .
Of larger than normal scale for this form of stool produced in ebony .
Probably made in Galle district of Ceylon .
The frame in excellent strong undamaged condition .
