Description

Early C19th Regency period rosewood etagere/ bookcase/canterbury/folio-stand/'vide-poche'/bedside stand, of unusual form . Useful 'tray-top' or galleried ,etagere fitted with two mahogany-lined drawers and slatted divisions . Totally original condition and made from well-selected highly-figured rosewood . The front with turned column uprights which are repeated to the panelled/enclosed back .Turned legs fitted with original brass cup-castors (whilst the sprocket revolves the wheels themselves are seized from wear and age ), the drawers with their original ,quality cast-brass lion-mask knob handles.
A highly-useful piece of small-scale Regency furniture with a myriad of possible functions. Would work equally well as a piece of occasional furniture in a reception or drawing room, or as a bedside table /night-stand.
Excellent condition , cleaned and waxed ready to use. Some minor marks to top commensurate with age and use .
