Description

Early C20th leather-on-oak brass bound shotgun cartridge magazine/carrying case. High-quality shotgun magazine case constructed from oak covered with stitched heavy-duty saddle leather and fitted with brass corner protectors , designed for x200 12-bore cartridge capacity. Fitted divisions to the interior with buckling internal adjustable leather straps. Screwed brass corners, brass lock and locking hasp ,with stitched and padded leather carrying-handle in excellent serviceable condition. The case further fitted with a lateral external security strap with tooled detail and brass buckle .
(No key to lock but fully functioning hasp/closure)
Embossed initials to lid "G.W.Y".
A great accessory for the shooting gentleman or lady ,with good dark ,rich, aged patina to both the leather and brass fittings. Marks and scars to leather commensurate with age, use and purpose.
The canvas-lined interior of the lid stamped with the retailers/manufacturers mark of "Finnigans Ltd, Manchester".
Perfect practical size for carrying spare ammunition for a days sport. Probably originally designed to be carried onto the train for the journey to the grouse moor , but today would fit well into the boot of the Range Rover or Bentley.
