Late C19th/early C20th carved mahogany armchair of Adam revival design .
Good large-scale armchair suitable as a desk chair , of well-carved neo-classical inspiration in the style of the celebrated C18th designer and architect ,Robert Adam.
Oval concave back with intricate carved splat featuring swags, ribbons and central "Prince of Wales" plumed feathers. The elegant frame fluted throughout and with carved flower-head paterae. Generous brown leather-covered serpentine-fronted seat with close-nailed stud decoration. Broad sweep to the carved arms , the legs with fluting and carved detail terminating in a balled foot .
Dark mahogany, with deep patination , some lighter aged wear to the arms . No breaks or repairs.
The leather seat with some wear and indentations and webbing beneath in need of some attention, though serviceable.
