Late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty hardwood 'kang'or opium table. Useful low-height heavy quality 'hongmu' table of good rich colour . Inset 'floating' panel top , well-carved simulated bamboo design to edges and shaped legs , with intricately-carved intertwined "bamboo" friezes. Bamboo being an auspicious symbol of virtue in Chinese culture , admired for its strength and resilience. Minor shrinkage crack to top .Cleaned and waxed.
