Early C20th Chinese carved elm altar table. Intricately carved Dragon ,"flaming pearl " and Foe dogs designs to friezes and carved and pierced open-panel ends with pale green painted back-boards. A style of table conceived to display valuable antiques or artefacts ,or flowers as blessings and votives to esteemed ancestors in the Chinese culture. Moulded frame with block/'sledge' feet. Rising everted ends in early Ming dynasty style and form, a piece of classical Chinese furniture design. Waxed finish , nice pale blonde colour .Great console or serving table .W 79" x H 34" x D 20". China c. 1920
