C19th Victorian period inlaid, banded and ormolu-mounted burr-walnut credenza. Stunning quality cabinet with large "Sevres"-style porcelain plaque to centre door with heavily-cast ribbon ormolu surround , depicting romantic lovers in a rural idyll. Best quality veneers and ormolu mounts , flanked with string-inlaid free-standing columns with cast-ormolu Corinthian-capital tops .Bow-ended glass doors with string-inlaid shelves and velvet-lined interior to centre. The break-front top veneered in figured and burr walnut, the edge with cast ormolu beading. Inlaid box-wood marquetry designs to friezes ,and banding to panelled centre door .Wonderful colour and patina with good 'skirting-board' overhang to back ,and overall a cabinet of impressive and substantial proportions and a grade, quality and scale, well above the norm .
